St. Richard's School Library's Collection and The Five Pillars
Did you know that St. Richard's School Library has the Diversity and Philanthropy Collection which supports the Global Readiness and Civic Responsibility Pillars? The Global Readiness Pillar celebrates cultural, spiritual, economic, and racial diversity and offers international experiences as part of the curriculum. The Civic Responsibility Pillar encourages students to share their gifts with others through scholarship and philanthropy. The fiction and non-fiction books in the collection span a range of topics like acceptance, social activism, helping others, diverse cultures, countries of the world, the environment, and related historical issues (such as the Holocaust and the Underground Railroad). The collection is a partnership between the Global Readiness Committee and SRS Library, and was founded with a generous grant from our Parent Organization.
We invite you to contribute your favorite books, particularly those that:
- encourage positive and giving behaviors;
- teach about history through the lens of diversity and the betterment of society;
- teach about your family's ethnic or religious backgrounds; or,
- originate from another country you visit.
Contributions to the collection can be made to Lee Ann Kee or Abby Williams. Help us celebrate your family, teach about your favorite countries or social issues, and ready St. Richard's kids for the world!
