Steve Greist, SRES Class of 2002, works as a theater performer in Chicago. In this lightly edited Q&A, he reflects on the relationships, memories and lessons learned from his time as a Dragon. I spent ten years attending the school andeven longer at the church. And althoughI don’t get to roam the halls as often as I used to, to say that I’ve distancedmyself from the community seems...

The faculty and staff of St. Richard's Episcopal School is clearly one of the greatest assets of the school. These dedicated professionals really create the magic that happens at 33 East 33rd Street. What's more remarkable to me is that our faculty and staff have all made a gift to the 2011-12 Annual Fund. Our faculty and staff are all in. Please thank them for this accomplishment.I am happy to report that the members of the Board of Trustees have also achieved a 100% level of Annual Fund participation. While this is an expectation most people have of Board service, I...

Years ago when I was president of the SRES Parent Organization, I made a terrible mistake. I helped kill the Rendezvous parties.A Rendezvous was an adult-only theme party hosted by a group of members of the SRES community for the purpose of having fun and making relationships, and helping the PO help the school. The hosts would cover all the costs for the location, food, adult and alcohol-free beverages and entertainment. Attendees would pay a modest fee that was a donation to benefit the Parent Organization's mission of supporting SRES - the current school bus, for example, was purchased with...
