St. Richard's Celebrates Shrove Tuesday with Pancake Races

The St. Richard's community came together on Tuesday for its traditional Mardi Gras celebration: a pancake race in the gym!  A British tradition that traces its roots back to the practice of eating pancakes before the start of lent on "Shrove Tuesday," the pancake race has become a central part of St. Richard's Mardi Gras celebrations.  This year, the first grade, sixth grade and faculty participated in races.

Students also celebrated throughout the day by eating king cake, decorating masks and making elaborate Mardi Gras puppets (pictured below).

Congratulations to the 5th and 6th Grade Science Fair Winners!

Congratulations to all the 5th and 6th grade students who participated in the annual Science Fair.  Students put a great deal of time, effort and energy into their projects and it showed with well designed experiements, creative display boards and well delievered presentations to judges.  The winner in Grade Five was Rebecca Bamforth and the Grade Six winner was Lauren Burgett.  Great job Dragons!

Math and Science Night an "Explosive" Success!

Parents, students and teachers all showed up in force to enjoy the third annual St. Richard's Episcopal School Math & Science Night on Wednesday, February 15.

Attendance at the event set a record, with over 230 students, parents and community members joining in the educational fun--including several first time attendees.  Throughout the night, families attended three different math and science stations located around the schools.  The Parent Organization also treated guests to a chili dinner in the Dragon Cafe.

SRES Middle Division Performs Mulan

In this year's Middle Division Musical the eighth grade and other Middle Division volunteers put on the stage adaptation of Mulan, the classic Chinese fable made famous in the US by the 1998 Disney movie.  With authentic costumes, beautifully decorated stage and a fun script, the annual musical was once again a smash success.  Thank you to all the students, parents and volunteers for your hard work and dedication which made the performance possible!
