Dear Friends, Families, and Faculty,

It has been an exciting week around here.

First of all, congratulations to the girls 5&6 grade basketball team who defeated Orchard last night.  The Lady Dragons have an 18 and 1 record this year!!

Secondly, Kudos to the 8th grade for a great Entrepreneurship Academy this week with the Purdue Research Park Foundation and Dr. Tim Peoples and Ms. Juliana Spiker from the Foundation. Barnes and Thornburg Law Firm sponsored the event and we thank them profusely, especially Todd Vare who began the process with the Foundation and us over a year ago. The winning team was the NoScar Test Team comprised of Rebecca Weber, Amy Lootens, Rowan Farrell, Oliver da Costa Horner, Christian Sabharwal, and Bryce Moore. Entrepreneurial Students of the week were Shelby Brown, Caroline Garau, and Alexandra Lombardo. Rebecca Weber was the Most Creative Student.  The winning team will receive a free week of Entrepreneurship Camp at Purdue this summer, an event normally reserved for juniors and seniors in high school.  Way to go, Dragons!  See the front page of the website for more information on this outstanding opportunity!

4.  Next Friday is Parent/Teacher conference day.  Don't forget to sign up for an appointment time with your child's teacher.  Consequently, school is not in session on Friday.

5.  PO News:  The Used Uniform Sale has been rescheduled for Friday March 12th from 2:45 - 5:30pm in the basement of the Scout Building.  Apologies to all for cancelling the Used Uniform Sale last Friday because of deep snow in the parking lot of the Scout Building.

The St. Richards School Parent Organization will hold its Spring General Meeting on Monday, March 15th at 6pm in the Fortune Room.  We will hold elections for next year's Executive Board.  Please contact Deidre Lindsey at pharmdee01@aol.com if interested in serving on the Board.  We will hear a presentation from Carolyn Lausch about the work of the Social Networking Committee.  This committee has been working to establish boundaries and educate the students about this ever-growing method of communication.  LeaAnn Koekenberg will present information to bring the parents up to date on Internet safety and social networking and related issues facing our students.  This should be a very informative presentation and we hope you will make plans to attend.

6.  St. Richard's parents are invited to attend midweek Lenten Eucharists at Trinity Church at 6 pm on Tuesday evenings and 7:30 am on Wednesday mornings. The services continue until Spring Break. School parents are also invited to "Praying in Color," a Lent retreat day at Trinity Church next Saturday, March 6, from 9 to 1. Participants will learn to use images and color as tools for drawing closer to God. You don't have to be an artist nor a person with deep habits of prayer to try this technique. For more information, contact Chaplain Grace at gburton-edwards@strichardsschool.org.

Best wishes for an enjoyable weekend!
