Dear Friends, Families, and Faculty of St. Richard's School, It is the end of a rainy spring week, and I have several announcements for you. Please find the attachments on the website, www.strichardsschool.org, under School Life, Electronic Friday folder, current issue. 1. When seventh grade student Kendall Burgett was Head of School for a Day, she declared Monday, May 12 an all-school free dress day. Please refer to the guidelines on page 47/48 of the Parent Handbook. 2. The following Monday, May 19, eighth grade students are encouraged to wear spirit wear from the high school they plan to attend next year. St. Richard's will proudly post these choices along with a list of colleges selected by the SRS Class of 2004. 3. Yearbooks have arrived and will be distributed today. The oldest sibling per family will receive the yearbooks designated for that family. For those families who did not pre-order a yearbook, a limited supply will be available for sale in the Business Office for $28 beginning Monday. See attachment. 4. Please see the attachment about the Cub Scout End of the Year banquet held Wednesday, May 14th at 6:00 p.m. in the Fortune Room. 5. Please vote for the recipient of the Burns Award, the highest award for a volunteer given by the St. Richard's Parent Organization by visiting http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=BBaqJdjprgDmR2QjXpR8CA%3d%3d . 6. If you missed Abby Williams' presentation on Internet Safety held last week, visit http://www.strichardsschool.org/Informationyoushouldknow.pdf for links to more information. 7. You may not know it, but children under 18 can bowl for free this summer at many Indianapolis bowling alleys. You must preregister in order to take advantage of this opportunity, and no field trips are allowed. Children are allowed two free games per day from April 20th until August 23rd. Check it out at www.kidsbowlfree.com. 8. All are welcome to join the Trinity Parish Picnic this Sunday in the St. Richard's gymnasium following the 10:15 service. Chicken and drinks are provided. If your last name begins with A-L bring fruit or dessert; M-Z, a side dish. Dress casually. There will be games and prizes for the children. Join us for food, fellowship and an unofficial kick off to summer. 9. Join Trinity Church for a Mother's Day concert this Sunday evening at 7 pm. The Trinity Church Choir, under the direction of Dr. Michael Messina, joins noted tenor Steven Stolen to present works by Gounod, Puccini, and Bach. Admission is free. 10. Learn more about caring for Mother Earth with a Low Carbon Diet Workshop offered at Trinity Church on Saturdays from May 17 to June 21 (no session on June 7). This five-session workshop gives participants home improvement strategies to save energy and money while reducing their carbon dioxide "footprint." The workshop will be led by SRS parent Tim Koponen, IUPUI SPEA professor, and Paul Chase of the Citizens Action Coalition. The course is free, with a suggested donation of $15 for the cost of materials. Registration is limited to 20 participants. To register, e-mail Tim Koponen at tkoponen@iupui.edu . 11. Please see the attachment if you have a boy in grades 3-8 who is interested in attending football camp at Park Tudor in late June.
