Dear Families, Friends, and Faculty,
It is the end of the first week of May, and life inside and outside of St. Richard's School is very busy with exciting events.  Today, the Kindergarten classes charmed their mothers with the traditional Mother's Day Bunny play, and it was touching and sweet as always.  Happy Mother's Day to mothers everywhere!
We have a few announcements today.
1.  With only a few weeks of school left, if you are aware of friends or families looking for schools for next year, please have them contact us soon.  It is much more engaging to see the children in the classroom than it is to tour in the summer.  Enrollment is on track for our budgeted 305, but we'd love to grow if applicants warrant.  Thank you for any referrals you can provide!
2.  Don't forget to vote for the Burns Award, the highest award given to a parent volunteer.  If you haven't already, please visit http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CYYD5QF     and cast your vote!
3.  Don't forget to sign up for St. Richard's summer camps!  If you intend to enroll your child in the first week of summer camp, your deposit is due by Tuesday, May 25.  Find many exciting opportunities and register on the St. Richard's website under School Life, Summer Camps or contact Kathi Ridley at kridley@strichardsschool.org.  Some of the camp counselors are also available to nanny during the last two weeks of the summer (when camp is not in session).  Contact Ms. Ridley now if you are interested in engaging a counselor for childcare during this time.
4.  The annual Maypole dance will be performed by this year's second grade on Monday, May 10 at 8:15 in the gym.  All are welcome for this spring celebration!
5.  Yearbooks are in and have been distributed to students who pre-ordered them.  There are a limited number of additional yearbooks in the Business Office that are available for $28, first come, first served.  Please have your child put their name in the front of the yearbook so that the books don't become separated from their owners!
There will be a four page yearbook insert delivered in the fall for major events that are happening this spring such as Graduation, Washington, D.C., Talent Show, Field Day, etc.  All who ordered a yearbook will receive an insert.  They will be mailed to our graduating 8th graders.
6.  Parent volunteers for Field Day are needed to chaperone the games.  Field Day will take place on Thursday, May 27.  Early Childhood chaperones are needed from 9:45-11:30, and 1st -8th chaperones are needed from 12:30-3:15.  Please contact Jay Sherrill if you are able to assist.
7.  2009-2010 Annual Fund Update
St. Richard's School would like to thank the many donors who have pledged or contributed to this year's Annual Fund.  Because outside donors are encouraged by high levels of constituent participation in annual giving, please help St. Richard's School attract funding from other sources by contributing any amount to the Annual Fund.
Next week we will be conducting a "Electron-A-Thon" to remind families and other constituents to donate to the Annual Fund.  If you haven't yet made a gift this year and would like to preempt this email, click https://app.etapestry.com/hosted/StRichardsSchool/Development.html to Make A Gift Now.  The students, faculty and staff at St. Richard's thank you.
8.  Summer Volleyball camps are available:
Brebeuf Jesuit:  July 5th through the 8th, 9:30 until 1:30 p.m., girls in grades 5-9 are eligible.  Cost:  $110.00
Butler University:  Coach Sharon Clark (wife of Tim, mother of Myles)
Junior Bulldog Skills Camps:  July 5-8 & July 19-22
NIKE Camp:  July 12-15
High School Team Camp:  July 19-20 & 21-22
Volleyball/Basketball Camp:  July 26-29
9.  If your child has medication with Mrs. Savka, please remember to pick it up prior to the end of school.  Medication left after May 27 will be discarded.
10.  Over half of the Trinity Church youth group are St. Richard's graduates.  They will be travelling to Iona, Scotland next summer for a spiritual journey and are working to earn the money to support their trip.  They are hosting a community day at Monical's Pizza at the Glendale Mall (behind Macy's) on Monday May 17th. The youth group will receive 20% of the sales per customer if they present the appropriate coupon. This promotion will run all day but it does not include carryout food. Coupons will be in the Friday Folder on May 14th.
Once again, Happy Mother's Day to everyone!
