Kindergarten: Students learn about their environment as they begin to distinguish past and present through development of citizenship, thinking skills and participation skills.

First Grade: Students learn the world in Spatial Term, places, regions, environment and society.

Second Grade: Students in 2nd grades will describe the basic rights and responsibilities as citizens as they examine local and regional communities in the present and past and how these communities meet people’s needs

Third Grade: Students study continuity and change in their local community and in communities in other states and regions of the world. They also learn how people have created and shaped their communities over time, and roles of citizens and functions of government in the community, state and nation, and how people in communities interact with their environment, develop and use technology and use human and natural resources.

Fourth Grade: Students in Grade 4 study Indiana and its relationships to regional, national and world communities, including the influence of physical and cultural environments on the state’s growth and development and principles and practices of citizenship and government in Indiana.

Fifth Grade: Grade 5 Students will describe the historical movements that influenced the

Development of the United States from pre-Columbian times up to 1800 with an

Emphasis on the American Revolution and the Founding of the United States.

Sixth Grade: Students in 6th grade will examine the key historic movements, events and figures that Contribute to the development of the modern European and American nations from early civilizations through the fall of the Roman Empire

Seventh Grade:  Students will examine the key historical movements, events and figures that contributed to the developments of Modern Western civilization from the fall of the Roman Empire to early modern times

Eighth Grade: In Grade 8, students focus upon United States history, beginning with a brief review of early history, including the Revolution and founding era, and the principles of the United States and Indiana constitutions, as well as other founding documents and their applications to subsequent periods of national history and to civic and political life.
